IAMU offers a wide variety of training for water and wastewater operators and managers

  IAMU maintains a training calendar listing water and wastewater operator training in Iowa. The calendar is located at www.waterww-calendar.org. It is updated on regular intervals to ensure the most current listings of training are listed. The calendar site is funded through a grant from Iowa DNR.

Water and Wastewater Operators’ Training Workshop
Three-day workshop held annually the third week of November.

Advanced Water Treatment Workshop
One-day workshop held at the IAMU offices in Ankeny in March.

Advanced Water Distribution Workshop
One-day workshop held at the IAMU offices in Ankeny in March.

Water Distribution Workshops
One-day hands-on workshops held on the 10-acre IAMU Training Field in Ankeny. There is usually one workshop in May and another in September. These workshops are funded by Iowa DNR.

Water Leak Detection Workshops
One-day hands-on workshops intended for water systems under 3,300 population. There is usually one workshop in May and another in September. These workshops are funded by Iowa DNR.

Grade I Operator Training Workshops
One-day workshop for Iowa operators trying to obtain their Grade I Water Treatment license. Six workshops are held, usually in October. These workshops are funded by Iowa DNR. If you can’t wait until a workshop is held, contact IAMU at 1-800-810-4268 or water@iamu.org to receive the study manual.

Cross Connection Control Workshops
Six three-hour workshops held around the state in May. These workshops are funded by Iowa DNR.

Consumer Confidence Report Workshops
Six workshops held annually around the state to help utilities compile their Consumer Confidence Report. To receive the templates, contact IAMU at 1-800-810-4268 or water@iamu.org. These workshops are funded by Iowa DNR.

Sampling Techniques and Plan Development Training
Six three-hour workshops are held around the state. Participants will be trained on proper sampling techniques and how to create a plan for future reference.

Disinfection Workshop
Six three-hour workshops are held around the state. Participants will understand the importance of disinfection, its impact on water quality, and proper disinfection procedures.
