Iowa
Association of Municipal Utilities (IAMU) is seeking a person to provide technical assistance and
training to water supply systems.
This is a permanent, full-time position.
IAMU is a not-for-profit member organization representing water, gas,
electric and telecom municipal utilities.
IAMU has over 500 water utility members.
IAMU
Water Services Specialist position is primarily funded by a grant
from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR); IAMU works
closely with the Water Supply Section of IDNR.
IAMU currently has contract with
IDNR for the Viability Technical Assistance Grant.
The purpose of this grant is to provide one-on-one, technical
assistance to communities with populations less than 10,000 with the
technical, managerial, and financial aspects of a water system.
Emphasis will be given to asset management, rate setting, and
board/council training.
Working on the Viability Grant is
the first priority of the Water Services Specialist, while some time
will also be dedicated to additional workshops/projects the Water
Services Department at IAMU is responsible for.
Strong communication and computer skills are a
must. Experience with water utility operations and management or
science/engineering background is preferred. In-state travel is
required, some overnight.
Salary is dependent on qualifications.

Manager, Transmission and Distribution
This position directs and manages all activities related to the
electrical transmission and distribution system including
Engineering, T&D, Metering and Power Quality, and Technical
Services. This person will direct the activities of the Chief
Operations Engineer which includes preparation of work orders, the
maintenance of system maps in GIS system, evaluation of new
equipment and materials, and development and application of
construction standards and techniques. This individual will
also maintain a strong relationship with residential, commercial,
and industrial customers by providing reliable and outstanding
customer service. Incumbent will also be involved and
work closely with electrical contractors and other vendors.
There are four direct reports and a total of 35 salaried and
bargaining unit employees in this department.
This person will participate in labor relations
activities including contract negotiations and labor management
meetings. This manager will be responsible for monitoring and
controlling costs of inventory and for directing the work related to
line maintenance and new construction needs while making sure that
there are adequate materials on hand. This individual will be
involved in establishing service requirements for residential,
commercial, and industrial customers as well as ensuring department
compliance with the NERC Reliability Standards. They will also
ensure that all employees have had adequate safety training and
attend regularly scheduled safety meetings.
The successful candidate will have a BSEE with
7-10 years experience in utility transmission and distribution,
preferably with a public power entity, and 5 or more years

Utilities offers this position. The Journey Lineperson is
responsible for the construction and repair of a 15 KV electric
system and equipment. Work is predominantly outdoors and in all
weather conditions. This individual must be able to drive safely,
work extended hours, and wear utility provided Personal Protective
Equipment.

Superintendent/Plant Manager
The Coggon Municipal Light Plant is now accepting

overhead line work, new construction of lines. Other duties include,
but are not limited to: Line inspection, meter reading, tree

gear, substation work, and boilers.
