Gas Distribution System Supervisor
The New Ulm (Minnesota) Public Utilities Commission is seeking qualified candidates for this management-position. New Ulm, pop. 14,500, is located in the southwest region of the state along the Minnesota and Cottonwood Rivers. This position oversees the development, construction, maintenance and repair of the municipal natural gas distribution system, which includes nearly 7,000 metered customers, while administering a budget over $9M and supervising a staff of 10 employees. Position requires a high school diploma, ten years of progressively responsible experience in a natural gas distribution system, two years of which must include supervisory duties, and possession of a valid Minnesota driver’s license. Journeyman Lineworker
Marshall Municipal Utilities, located in Marshall, Minnesota is currently accepting applications for this position. Performs skilled electrical work in the construction, maintenance and operations of the City’s transmission and distribution system, both overhead and underground. Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited vocational line worker course and have a minimum of five (5) years experience in the electrical industry. Muscatine Power and Water, the largest municipal electric utility in Iowa, has an immediate opening for an Energy Services Advisor to maintain and develop Demand Side Management (DSM) and related residential/commercial energy efficiency and water conservation projects/programs Responsibilities include conducting residential, commercial and industrial energy audits, blower door tests, and thermal camera scans; energy consumption/efficiency calculations and reporting; facilitate customer and PR activities that increase identification and provide education to promote safe and economical energy solutions to ensure energy efficiency and electrical conservation for customers/contractors. Will assist the Director of Utility Relations in establishing and implementing a long-term alternative energy program to meet customer needs as well as meeting State mandates. Ideal candidate will hold a BS in Engineering or a 2-4 year business/technical degree, with 3+ years energy engineering or energy management experience, or 10+ years applicable experience as equivalent. 3+ years electric utility experience with an emphasis in demonstrating and promoting energy efficiency and water conservation measures preferred. Must have ability to acquire knowledge of Iowa Utility Board Regulations and City Building Codes, and possess a general knowledge of residential and commercial building construction, heating, cooling and load using equipment. Strong written and oral communication skills required. Mechanical or Electrical Engineer
Muscatine Power and Water (MP&W), the largest municipal electric utility in Iowa, has an opening for this position (entry-level to experienced candidates will be considered). Engineering staff work on both the generation and transmission/distribution sides of the business. This opportunity is a part of the team providing engineering/maintenance support to the generation department for three coal-fired generating units. The engineer will serve as project leader or discipline lead for capital projects including power, process control, and other engineering assignments; assist in preventative and predictive maintenance; and work closely with the generation department on changes to the plant processes. Will serve as the utility’s representative on projects utilizing outside contractors. Ideal candidates will have the potential to move upward in the organization. BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required, power option preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills required. Understanding of mechanical and electrical design, drafting, welding processes and procedures, thermodynamics, predictive maintenance, applicable codes and standards, and project management preferred. Will provide project planning, design, management, and contract administration services, including specification preparation, bid evaluation, and quality control for major utility projects. Must be an organized self-starter who is able to communicate effectively and work well as a team member, as well as independently. Bachelors in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required, power option preferred. Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Iowa and three-plus years utility transmission and distribution experience preferred. Working knowledge of PC applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and CAD/GIS required. Familiarity with NESC, NEC, and OSHA codes required. Ability to develop, interpret, and understand technical manuals, plans, sketches, and schematic diagrams required. Stuart Municipal Utilities has a new opening for a well qualified and highly motivated individual for the position of Electric and water Assistant Superintendent. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, electric utility operations and water treatment facilities and distribution. Individual should hold a Grade II water treatment certificate from the state of Iowa or the ability to obtain them in reasonable amount of time. The position requires an extensive knowledge of electricity and materials and supplies associated with electric power distribution work including overhead and underground line construction and maintenance.
